The Double Diamond is a visual tool to show how the design process takes place.

It’s a simple way to see the steps any design project will take, whatever the tools and methods you choose to use.

Two diamonds

The two halves of the problem diamond. A green left-pointing triangle featuring someone by a board with The Promise Scotland's logo, and a blue right-pointing triangle featuring someone helping someone else to the top of a pair of giant books.

The problem diamond helps you discover what your problem is, and define how your team understands it.

The solution diamond helps you develop a solution to your problem, then deliver it into the world.

Design can be messy!

Your team’s journey through these four phases might not go in a straight line. You might go back and forth through some phases several times, and that’s completely normal.
