The Promise Design School can show you how powerful Service Design is as a tool for keeping the promise.

Service Design is mostly just a way of working and thinking. It involves becoming more comfortable in working with other people to come up with solutions, and more at peace with the idea we will make mistakes.

It isn’t a complicated way of seeing the world. But it can completely change what people are able to accomplish.

It can help you understand why what you have might not be working, and where you might need to do next.

Why does Service Design matter for keeping the promise?

Keeping the promise involves transformative change, which will often mean redesigning how things work.

For example:

  • Your organisation might need to change the ways you support people— including the public who you work with, and the workforce who works alongside them.
  • Your organisation might need to create new resources or services, or to change something about the resources or services you’re in charge of.
  • Your organisation might have to change something about the structures it works in: such as who it works with, how it works with them, and who is responsible for what.

But a lot of these problems might be extremely complicated, to the point that it’s hard to know how we might even begin to address them.

Because of this, many of us might feel that a problem we might face is impossible to solve. Service Design can provide a way to help us understand our problem better, and to begin to see what solutions might turn out to be possible.
